Salt Cave Africa (Pty) Ltd is a UK-SA partnership between Utembezi Investment Holdings (Pty) Ltd and Allergy & Asthma Ltd (UK).

The Directors of Salt Cave Africa are:

Sofia Benke and Denes Gal are the founders and directors of the flagship UK and Europe Salt Caves. Sofia has a BA in business studies (Oxford Brooks University) and an IAA Diploma in Marketing Communications. She started her career in Luxemburg working in the PR and Marketing sector.

Afterwards she changed countries and career and she started to work in HR in Hungary and later in London. Denes has an MBA in economics. He started to work in the family businesses at a very early age and after finishing university he started to work in investment banking in London.

Salt Therapy is a real market need as there are thousands of people all aorund the world suffering from various respiratory problems and there aren’t many natural therapies available for them. The couple knew salt therapy well and its great benefits as there are many centres in the eastern and central European region where they originally come from. The therapy is clinically proven, 100% natural and very well known in those countries.

Denes Gal

The couple did their research, visited several Salt Caves in different countries and opened their first Salt Cave in south west London in January 2009. With their unique concept they imanaged to raise the attention of the media right at the beginning, their global press coverage been remarkable. Since opening the first Salt Cave in London the couple is supporting keen entrepreneours to open their own Salt Caves. They opened the following Salt Caves this year:

Anitha Soni is the Managing Director of Salt Cave Africa. She is the recipient of Women of the Year Award from the Foundation for Business Excellence in 1995, and, in 2002 she was awarded the much-coveted and prestigious “Business Women of the Year BBQ Award”. She recognised the need for Africa to provide its people with a drug free remedy to a growing ailment.

“Asthma is one of the most common lung illnesses in the world today. It affects one in ten children (10%) and one in twenty adults (5%). Asthma cannot be cured but can be kept under control so that those affected are able to live normal lives enjoying full involvement in sport and all other activities”. “Symptoms of asthma, allergic rhinitis and atopic eczema in adolescents have increased over the past 7 yr in South Africa. Allergic diseases are common in this group of adolescents and increasingly impair their quality of life”. (Zar, Ehrlich et al)

Anitha has extensive business experience and strategic involvement in economic development in South Africa, and, has contributed to enterprise development in many countries with the African Continent.

She recognised the value in promoting and delivering a cost effective and drug-free solution to allergies and respiratory ailments. She further recognised that the solution would serve as a sound economic development opportunity for entrepreneurs wanting to go into business and provide a meaningful service to the market.

The Africa team includes experienced professionals in Customer care, Treatment co-ordination, business management, and, business development.
